1)BLOG SETTINGS
The second step after creating a blog is to set the settings. Settings are of two types . There are the Basic settings and the other settings
2)PRIVATE BLOGS
First
you have to decide whether you want your blog to be Private and seen
only by a few chosen people or Public and open to all. To set this click
on Settings on Dashboard---->Permissions. Also see How to create a blog.
3)LIST BLOG IN PROFILE
Next
if you want your blog to appear in your Profile set
Settings----->Basic---->Add your Blog to our
listings?------>Yes and Save. Of Course to display it in your Profile
click on Edit Profile link at top right on Dashboard and choose which
blogs to display under the Privacy heading.
4)BLOG TITLE AND DESCRIPTION
Set the Blog Description and Title in Settings---->Basic after carefully Choosing the best keywords for your blog. Te search engines use these to index your blog so make the optimum choices.
5)COMMENT SETTINGS
If
you want to open up your blog for comments go to
Settings---->Comments and choose Who can comment? to "Anyone' from
the drop down box. Remember to turn on Comment Moderation and Word Verification.
This will prevent automatic spammers from spamming on your blog. Also
choose to have the comments sent to you via email so that you can then
decide whether to publish a comment or not.
6)ENABLE POST PAGES
In
Settings----->Archiving----->Enable Post Pages----->to Yes and
Save. This gives each post a separate page. From now on to Create a new page on the blogger. just create a new post and publish it.
7)GOOGLE GROUP's MAILING LIST
If you want your blog to be sent to a mailing list you can Create a google groups of all the members and then paste it's email address in Settings---->Email---->BlogSend field.
8)BLOG PAGES
A
blog consists of a Main Page with several posts and Post Pages with one
post on each. You can decide how many posts to display on the Main Page
in Settings---->Formating---->Show __ posts on Main Page. Do not
display too many posts here if you wish to speed up your blog loading. A slow blog may lose you traffic as viewers lose patience.
9)PODCASTS IN BLOG
If you want to put podcast in your blog
you have to enable the Link Field in Settings----->Formatting. This
also helps if you are frequently referring to other articles on the
web. Just paste the link of the other article in this field before publishing your post.
10)TURN LINE BREAKS ON
To
enable paragraph spacing using the Enter key on the keyboard set the
Settings--->Formatting---->Convert Line breaks to Yes and save.
Now pressing Enter while in your Post Editor will insert <br />
tags in your blog.
